Migration

If you already have users in a different auth platform or service, there are a few options when it comes to migrating to Userfront. You can choose to migrate user data in bulk, or migrate users and passwords together.

#User data

The simplest path to migrating your existing users to Userfront. In this case, you export user data from your existing auth service, then import JSON-encoded user data into your Userfront workspace using our User Import API. You can also import user data in CSV format directly in the Userfront dashboard. Most Userfront customers can completely migrate user data in just a few hours.

#User data and passwords

With Userfront, you also have the option of syncing not just user data, but passwords too, so that your active users do not need to reset their passwords. Userfront enables this by mimicking your old auth system and migrating passwords to Userfront over time. You determine the length of the migration window: generally, most Userfront customers choose something between 1 and 4 weeks.
